I'm really itching to see the Ian Curtis biopic, Control. The preview on the movie page is incredible (not to be confused with the trailer) and I'm really interested to see what Anton Corbijn brings to the table. I always thought his Depeche Mode videos were odd but I think he chose the right route by presenting this in black and white. The music, excellently performed by the actors should also be noted.
I recently read a comprehensive recording history of Joy Division up to Unknown Pleasures by Chris Ott that was so incredibly detailed that it had taken me a few months to read it (it is only 117 pages and is 6" x 5"!). Whether or not I thought it was a good read, it did leave me with a long thought: The last song written by Joy Division had been "Ceremony" (which had never been properly recorded) and I couldn't get it out of my head. The brilliant lyrics were just a precursor to his untimely death. The song is so freaking depressing I don't know how the rest of the band could have moved forward (especially after Ian Curtis attempted suicide just a month before he succeeded).
