SF, CA

I have been in San Francisco for the week for work and I can't wait to get home. I didn't even get to do half of what I wanted to do. I am a bit bummed because I'm here in between shows and missing out on a lot of cool stuff. Plus, I'm tired. My days and nights have been long.

So first off, the Warhol exhibition is at the de Young and I will miss it. It moves to Montreal at the end of the year in Montreal. Maybe I'll make it out. Joshua Petker's show opens tomorrow at The Shooting Gallery. Damn. Then, Harry Kim's film, Dirty Hands, is playing tomorrow. I also leave tomorrow. The only thing I got to see was the GRSF show. Albert Reyes is my favorite.

Oh, by the way, Jen Corace's Hansel and Gretal book (illustrations) is on clearance at Urban Outfitters. It's ridiculously good and ridiculously cheap (under $5).

Number 2 of the Beasts!

Make sure you pick up a copy of Beasts!: Book 2 that was just released from Fantagraphics. It's probably one of the best looking low brow art survey books I've seen. Speaking from publishing experience, of course. It's also really interesting, like a Weird NJ book crossed with the Bible with cool art. Hardcover, gold foil, beautiful print... Thanks Jacob Covey, who curated this massive collection. There's also a Beasts! show at Giant Robot SF that I'm really bummed that I can't see in person.

No Sleep Till Brokelynn

So I just realized that Giant Robot beat me out with my previous entry topic but I had really planned it out this morning. Well, I'm offering my professional opinion, I suppose. All-in-all, I guess that it doesn't really matter. No hard feelings since I'm going to mention them in the next paragraph.

So anyway, keep an eye out for Kathleen Lolley. She's had a busy year - a solo show at OK OK Gallery in April (a really cool series, BTW) and a very busy summer with group shows at Lab 101 and at Giant Robot. Her solo show at Giant Robot NY opens on October 20th and Urban Outfitters is offering a cool triptych print set online. $40?!? Friggin' steal. The OGs were pretty affordable from what I remember. Too bad it sucks being broke.

Not an OK Computer

My computer is over 5 years old and I've successfully wiped my computer out (purposefully) several times. I just went wireless this year and stupidly had given my old keyboard and mouse away. Now my computer is stuck in installation mode until I pick up new hardware probably not for another two weeks. I'm a little stubborn buying a new mouse and keyboard just to reinstall Windows.

I have a lot to update but have been way too busy lately. I'll mention last week's Jack Long print at Tiny Showcase. I had to pass on that one. I don't think it was one of the better pieces that he's come out with. For an edition of 200 selling out so fast, they really do have a loyal fanbase. I prefer the print at Giant Robot better, it is an edition of 100, 5" x 7" and is signed for $30.
