Here's the post pasted below: We like what we've been seeing from Canadian artists lately, so we would like to put a spotlight on Jon Todd whose work you may have recently seen in the Sweet Calaveras group show at Yves LaRoche in Montreal. Todd's portraiture work combines intricate illustration, painting and detailed collage that really can be only appreciated by seeing it up close. It's been a busy year for Todd with his work being up for a clothing line and having been in group shows at Toyroom Gallery, Thinkspace Gallery, DVA Gallery and an upcoming show at Ghetto Gloss Gallery in Los Angeles. Todd's site, www.jontodd.ca, has just been updated with his works from 2007, and he has some limited edition prints only available here.
All weekend I basically tried to make more available space on my walls to hang some more pieces. Measuring and hammering away. I really need a laser level. More pics to come. But for now, this is what hangs currently on one of my walls:
I'm glad that Jon Todd finally made his way onto Juxtapoz. Check out the Sweet Calaveras show coverage on Juxtapoz. His stuff is really amazing and you can't really get a good grasp of his work without seeing it up close. Yves Laroche happens to be the place where I first saw works by Jon Todd last year. Keep a look out for him, he will be showing at Thinkspace next year.
